Terracotta warming stone inside a handmade basket

Keep your bread warm on this beautiful whitewashed terracotta warming stone, nestled inside a handwoven kaisa grass basket.

Makes a beautiful display on the table, and is practical too. It's easy to pass the basket round the table without touching the hot stone.

Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world and is badly threatened by global warming as the seas rise. Our supplier, founded in 1973, is one of the oldest Fair Trade organisations in the world and we’re proud to support them. Natural, local raw materials are used throughout. Most of the artisans are women in rural or slum areas.

Usage Instructions:
Rinse terracotta before first use and dry well. Place terracotta stone in the oven and bake for 10 mins at 350F (heating times may vary). Handling carefully, place the stone in the basket. For breadwarmers, wrap food in a cloth before placing on warmer.
To clean stone, rinse with water. Not dishwasher safe.
This basket is woven from natural grasses and may smell earthy. To dissipate any odor, expose to dry air for several days. The basket can also be wiped down with a mix of 1 part vinegar 3 parts water before drying (avoid soaking the grass).
